How To: Log in and set up your MacBook

*** SETTING UP YOUR MACBOOK ***

#1. LOG IN MACBOOK AND SET YOUR PASSWORD
If you have already logged into a computer at school this year using your
Lunchroom number and set a password, use that as your login
*Note - using student as your name and student1 as your password will not work!
Name: lunchroom number
Password:          student1
NEW PASSWORDS MUST FOLLOW THESE RULES!!!
- at least 1 Capital Letter
- at least 1 number - and no consecutive numbers (123 etc)
- you can use special characters
- NOT YOUR NAME
Example: Almostdone14
#2. LOG INTO GMAIL AND SET YOUR PASSWORD
1. Open Safari, Go to gmail.com
2. Select SIGN IN
3. Enter your email address and temporary password
email address: lunchroom number@student.iss.k12.nc.us
temporary password: student1
4. In the two pop-up windows, select “Not now” for both
5. Accept user policy
6. Set your new password - MATCH WITH YOUR COMPUTER PASSWORD
7. You must use SAFARI to access your school gmail account.
The desktop mail app is not supported
*Note: You may only use your SCHOOL provided email for sending or receiving messages with your teachers
#3. LOG OFF YOUR COMPUTER AND SHUT DOWN
Click the Apple in the upper left corner of your screen, Select LOG OFF, then SHUT DOWN
YOU MUST LOG OFF BEFORE YOU LEAVE TODAY SO YOU CAN ACCESS THE INTERNET OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL
AT HOME - ACCESSING THE INTERNET
1. Connect to your wireless internet connection
2. Open Safari and Navigate to the web page you want
3. ZScaler (our internet content filtering tool) will open and ask you to Login
4 Enter your SCHOOL GMAIL ADDRESS
5. Enter your COMPUTER password, then click Login
6. Click “I Accept” on the Acceptable Use Policy page.
You will need to do this EVERY time you connect to an internet source
outside of the school network, or if your browser session goes idle
HELPFUL TIPS
- Most problems are solved by RESTARTING YOUR COMPUTER
- If you need help, Go to the Media Center and fill out a Help Desk Request
- Only install approved downloads on your MacBook - these are available in
the Filewave Kiosk - Click the Red Wave icon when it appears in your menu bar
- Unauthorized downloads that cause problems, will be removed
- If you need software for class that is not available in Filewave, have your teacher enter a Tech Workorder requesting the install
