How To: Fix User Can't Connect to Wireless on MacBook

User Cannot Connect to the Internet

User just arrived at school or moved to another room
Remember that while everyone is trying to connect to the internet at the same time, there will be a lag in connecting

Date /Time in error 
Check the Date and Time to see if it is correct.  If your battery ran down overnight, then the date and time will be incorrect.  Try one of the the following:

Filewave kiosk fix
  • Open Filewave
  • Install “Allow Date Time Change”
  • Click on Date Time in upper right of Mac 
  • Select Open Date & Time Preferences
  • Uncheck the box to set date and time automatically
  • Enter the correct Date and Time in the calendar and clock
  • Check Set date and time automatically to save
  • Close
  • Click on Wireless icon and Select ISSWireless to connect.  Icon will flash about 4 times and should connect
  • If Wireless does not connect, Turn off wireless then turn back on.

Via cable/Ethernet Dongle
  • Plug dongle into Mac Thunderbolt port
  • Plug in an Ethernet network Cable
  • Click on Date and Time in the upper right of tool bar, or select from the Apple,>system preferences
  • Select Open Date & Time Preferences
  • Uncheck the box to set date and time automatically
  • Enter the correct Date and Time in the calendar and clock
  • Check Set date and time automatically to save
  • Close
  • Click on Wireless icon and Select ISSWireless to connect.  Icon will flash about 4 times and should connect
  • If Wireless does not connect, Turn off wireless then turn back on.

Via Admin update
  • Click on Date and Time in the upper right of tool bar, or select from the Apple,>system preferences
  • Select Open Date & Time Preferences
  • Click the lock in the bottom left to open for changes
  • Enter in the administrative login and password
  • Uncheck the box to set date and time automatically
  • Enter the correct Date and Time in the calendar and clock
  • Check Set date and time automatically to save
  • Close
  • Click on Wireless icon and Select ISSWireless to connect.  Icon will flash about 4 times and should connect
  • If Wireless does not connect, Turn off wireless then turn back on.

Still No Connection?
Check with the teacher or other students to see if they are also having problems connecting.  

Next Steps
If you are still having problems, put in a Help Desk Work Order for the Technician to check the issue.
