Pages for Mac: Setting the spelling dictionary
Pages for Mac uses the spelling dictionary settings in OS X Mavericks.
OS X Mavericks includes spelling dictionary settings in the Text pane of Keyboard preferences. If you turn on the “Automatic by Language” setting, Pages automatically detects the language you're using in your document.
Set up your available spelling dictionaries:
- In System Preferences, select Keyboard.
- Go to the Text tab.
- In the Spelling menu, choose Set Up.
- Select the languages you'd like to use, and then drag them into your preferred order.
- Click Done.
Now, when you type in any of the checked languages in Pages, it corrects your spelling for the detected language.
To turn on spell checking while you type, choose Edit > Spelling and Grammar > Check Spelling While Typing.
To automatically correct your spelling as you type, choose Edit > Spelling and Grammar > Correct Spelling Automatically.
